Head Shoulders Knees & Toes
Today I taught body parts at Iwaseura elementary school and sang the song 'Head Shoulders Knees & Toes' for at least half a dozen times if not more. As i sang along with the kids, i had to point at various parts of the body in exaggerated movements and smiled a lot to engage them in the lesson. It's not the most mentally engaging job i know but it sure was physically demanding. Elementary school visits never fail to exhaust me at the end of the day. The kids are all so innocent and unassuming it is really a joy to see them so active in class, trying their best to pronounce each and every new English vocabulary you teach them. That being said, i am glad that i only have elementary school visit a week. The kids are so enthusiastic they won't spare the English teacher who only comes once every 3 weeks.I was often invited to play kickball with them after lunch. Kickball follows exactly the rules for baseball. The only difference is that instead of bat and glove, you kick the ball and run to the various bases. With only a meager understanding of the rules to what is their next national sport after sumo wrestling, i found myself kicking and running around like a headless chicken for 45min under the hot afternoon sun!
Plus i had not been sleeping enough since last week and am feeling the effects of it these few days. After school, the tune had been ringing in my head since and is really giving me a headache : |
Head and shoulders knees and toes knees and toes
Head and shoulders knees and toes knees and toes
Your eyes and ears and mouth and nose
Head and shoulders knees and toes knees and toes...
Gonna turn in early tonight to get this song out of my head!
